My Personal Minimums
Set these on the ground, in calm daylight — then honor them in the air. Start conservative; raise a number only with experience and a clear head, never on the day of a flight to make one work. You can fill this in here and print it, or print it blank.
Pilot — me
P
- Min. hours in type before I carry passengers:hr
- Max. days since my last flight before a solo warm-up:days
- Night: current + a min. ofhrnight in the lastdays
- Flight review / IPC due:
- Max. continuous time on duty / awake before I fly:hr
- I ground myself if any IMSAFE item is a “no.”
Aircraft
A
- Min. usable fuel on landing — day:minnight:min
- Min. runway length for my normal ops:ft
- Max. runway with obstacles / short field:ft
- Only aircraft / avionics I am current and familiar with.
The regulation sets the floor in its own words: fuel “to fly after that for at least 30 minutes” by day, “at least 45 minutes” at night (14 CFR 91.151(a)). A floor, not a plan. Set yours higher.

E
- My rule for get-there-itis (what makes me divert or cancel, no debate):
- I will not let a passenger, schedule, or cost push me past a number above.
- My personal “no-go” phrase / alternate plan:
Nothing you type here is saved or sent anywhere. The fields live in your browser for as long as the page is open — print or write them down before you close it.
A template, not a limit. Your CFI, your POH, and the regulations set the floor; these are the tighter limits you choose. The one regulation named on this sheet, the § 91.151 fuel reserve, is a minimum to beat rather than a target.
