Required rate of climb
Converts a published climb gradient (departure procedures print ft/NM) into the vertical-speed needle at your groundspeed: fpm = gradient × GS ÷ 60, the same table printed in the TPP legend.

How this is computed
Converts a published climb gradient (departure procedures print ft/NM) into the vertical-speed needle at your groundspeed: fpm = gradient × GS ÷ 60, the same table printed in the TPP legend. The standard 200 ft/NM at 90 kt over the ground needs 300 fpm — and more whenever a tailwind raises groundspeed.
